CrimeStoppers

Spartanburg County Crime Stoppers, organized in 1984, is run by a committee of volunteers from local businesses, the media, and local law enforcement officers.  The program is designed to encourage citizens to get involved by supplying law enforcement officials with tips regarding wanted suspects.  In February of 2005, CrimeStoppers announced its reorganization and is now partnering with the Spartanburg Jaycees.

Since its inception, CrimeStopper related tips have resulted in 473 arrests on 1432 charges and the recovery of more than $1 million dollars in property.  The program encourages public involvement through Community Awareness, Anonymity, and Rewards.  These policies have proven highly successful with a nationwide conviction rate for arrests made through the program at 98%.

Program funds are critical in order to maintain the success rate that CrimeStoppers has enjoyed since its inception.  Every dollar that goes to CrimeStoppers is an invaluable resource for helping solve crimes that impact us right here in our community.  Every criminal taken off our streets as a result of this program not only makes our citizens safer but also benefits local businesses.
