Golf Tournament History
The Spartanburg Jaycees began organizing Golf Tournaments to raise money for local charitable causes in 1997. Over the next six years, tournaments were run with a varied degree of success for several different local charities.
In 2004, Jaycee Charities assumed responsibility for the organization of the tournament and committed revenue to the newly revamped CrimeStoppers organization. The combination of Spartanburg Jaycee experience and CrimeStoppers initiative has proved to be a winning one, as the tournament has flourished and grown.
This year’s tournament is the fourth year the Jaycees and Crime Stoppers have teamed up. The 4th Annual Crime Stoppers / Jaycee Charities Golf Tournament will be a one day event. The Committee, made up of members of the Jaycees and Crime Stoppers, intend to raise $10,000 through Sponsorships and Green Fees. The event will be open to the public. The 2007 Charity Golf Tournament can accommodate up to 144 players.
The event will be on Friday, September 14, 2007. Lunch will start at 11:00 AM. Range Balls will be available for all players before the tee time. Tee time will be a Shot Gun start at 12:30 PM with the format being Captain’s Choice. Hole and other sponsorship opportunities are detailed in the attached "2007 Entry Form". Prizes will be awarded for various categories. Dinner will be provided after the event and awards and door prizes will be awarded.
The Jaycee Charity portion of funds raised from the tournament are primarily set aside for the Jaycees Christmas Shopping Spree for underprivileged children. The Spartanburg Jaycees have run this program since 1998 and have donated over $18,000 making over 270 children's holiday a little better.
